I have never wanted to slap someone so hard, so bad in my life.

The artist clearly wants to show the intrusion social media has on the
flow
of our daily lives. The water represents how malleable people are and is a critique on modern day interaction and peer pressure, which is enhanced by the wooden stick referring to days before modern society and the hand literally grasping for it. The slanted glimpse of trees in the top right corner again highlights how far we have gone from our past
natural
ways, contrasting with the cold steel, representing technology in the foreground.

Way too much effort went into this, but thanks, it’s great.

Honestly not much effort went into that. As a (down to earth) art-ish student, knowing how to bullshit is half your grade in some cases.
Reading back I even contradict myself.. At first the wooden stick is disrupting and later it has changed its meaning and is grasped onto.
